Hack #28: Eye Makeup Remover

I don’t know about you, but I prefer waterproof mascara over regular; it lasts longer and can withstand my bad habit of rubbing and touching my eyes. Only problem is, I hate taking it off. Regular face washes caution you to avoid the eye area and having a separate, out-of-the-shower eye makeup remover is just an expensive time-waster, in my opinion. I just took a shower and now you want me to clean my eyes?! Please.

Luckily, I’ve found an extremely helpful hack. Actually, I picked it up from my mom (she has to be one of the smartest women I know). Ready for this? Baby shampoo! You only need a little and you can use it right before you use your regular face wash, in the shower or out.

Of course, make sure you get the “no tears” or “tear-free” variety. Just put a small amount in your hand, create a lather, and gently rub onto your eyelids, making sure to pay special attention to your lashes. Then, rinse away with warm water and pat dry.

And for all you seasonal allergy sufferers out there, this is an added bonus. Regular eye makeup removers are just combos of oils and chemicals that just whisk away the makeup and, over prolonged use, can begin to breakdown the tissue near the eyes. But baby shampoo is going to gently clean the eye area, washing away any pollen or dirt from your lashes and brows.

This has been a problem for me lately with using the Almaty eye makeup remover pads, I wake up every morning with my eyes burning and red. Definitely going to try the I tears baby shampoo!

It works wonders and is much cheaper than other eye makeup removers. Let me know how it works out!
